Seismic Risk and Resilience

We Are A Certified B Corp™

Using Business as a Force for Good.

Seismic PML Assessments from Nova Group, GBC help lenders, servicers, insurers, and investors evaluate structural resilience, reduce uncertainty, and safeguard assets through ASTM-compliant multi-level risk reviews.

Seismic Probable Maximum Loss (PML) Assessments

Nova’s Senior and Field Assessors perform detailed PML Due Diligence Assessments in accordance with ASTM E2026 and E2557 Standards.

Nova Group, GBC provides all ASTM defined levels and scopes of PML and related risk assessments for commercial real estate lenders, loan servicers, insurers, and equity investors. This guidance aims to assist our clients in assessing seismic risks during the expected mortgage or deed holding period and beyond. Reports will reference the ASTM standards and note any deviations.

Nova's seismic assessments are categorized into four levels based on complexity and uncertainty:

Level 0: A basic screening with high uncertainty, requiring no engineering work and open to anyone.

Level 1: The standard assessment for real estate due diligence, with moderate uncertainty and limited engineering analysis. Results depend on the provider’s expertise.

Level 2 & 3: Advanced assessments using computer modeling and in-depth engineering analysis. These provide low-uncertainty results and are suited for complex or high-value properties.
